Get Enough Sleep

When you are well rested, you will feel your best. Sleep is one of those underrated actions that we could be doing to look our best. The lack of sleep can make you appear more tired than you feel, giving you under-eye bags and lackluster skin. Furthermore, a lack of sleep can contribute to feeling hungry all day because your body is trying to make up for a lack of energy through food for energy.
Also, it’s common to make up for a lack of sleep by overdoing it with caffeine. Too much caffeine can also make your skin look dehydrated and dull. An excessive amount of caffeine is terrible for your nervous system, but not only that, but it can also trigger your hunger hormone, ghrelin, and make your appetite sore!
In order to get more sleep and wake up feeling and looking well rested, settle into a cozy bedtime routine each night. Spring brings an onslaught of activities, more time outdoors, and possibly excitement to stay up later at night. Make you balance your spring days with lots of sleep.
11-Step Morning Routine to Feel Your Best This Spring: Try these bedtime rituals:
- Evening walk after dinner
- Intimate time with your partner (work up a sweat and wear yourself out…plus gets your body in a relaxed & happy state)
- Bedtime yoga consisting of mostly stretching and mediation
- Warm bath with lavender bath salts while listening to spa music
- Giving yourself a massage with oils or lotions (hydrates the skin after hot bath)
- Drink herbal tea designed as a sleep aid. (anything with chamomile usually does the trick)
- No screen time 2-hours before bed
- Read a book
- Journal your thoughts to help your mind sort through and process your day
- Use black-out curtains or wear a sleep mask
First Steps After You Wake

Facial Routine
You’ve reached the ultimate prize if you’ve learned to master the art of glowing, dewy skin.
Not there yet? No Worries.
Here’s what you need to do to achieve that glass skin look.
- Hydrate at bedtime (I use coconut oil or olive oil directly at bedtime)
- Exfoliate your face three times a week (I use at home microdermabrasion kits) This removes dead skin and reveals brighter, smoother skin
- Dermaplane once a month (cosmetic procedure that removes fine hairs, exfoliates, and reveals smoother skin (bonus, make-up applies smoother)
- Use a cleanser with high amounts of vitamin C and Hyaluronic acid. I like Burts Bees Truly Glowing Cleanser AMAZON LINK TO BUY HERE
- Mist face with a toner (I like Thayer’s Rose spray) this balances PH balance after constant washing or water AMAZON LINK HERE:
- Next, apply your Vitamin C Serum Drops. I like E.L.F. Burst Drops. BUY FROM AMAZON HERE
- Time to Moisturize. I use an anti-aging firming cream. I like Burt’s Bees FOUND HERE FROM AMAZON
- Don’t forget to use Sunscreen. The nice thing is, suncreen adds a bit more of that dewly look we’re after. I like Burt’s Bees Sunscreen FOUND HERE ON AMAZON
- Lastly, apply the sought after Korean Glass Skin Product that locks in all your other products and keeps your face hydrated and glowing. Try this MEDICUBE from AMAZON FOUND HERE
- The most important thing you can do for your skin is to drink water! Lots, and lots of WATER! Coconut water, herbal tea also count. SO drink up, ladies!
- Don’t forget your supplements. Adding in your apply cider vinegars & collagen that will help your skin from the inside out. I have not tried this product yet, but I’m itching to…it’s an all in one gummy. YUM! FOUND HERE FROM AMAZON
- Once or twice a week, use a face mask.
- Once every month or so, get a facial done!
Dry Brushing

Dry brushing is one of those tasks that we hear a lot about. Perhaps we even intend to try it out, but for some strange reason, we just never get around to doing it. Well those excuses and procrastination stops now. There are so many benefits to dry brushing.
These benefits include:
- exfoliating your skin
- Heling to improve circulation
- Lymphatic drainage
- wakes up and revitalizes your skin
- helps reduce the appearance of cellulite
Now doesn’t all of that sound splendid? I first learned about dry brushing through Gwyneth Paltrow and her GOOP company. The list of benefits really go on and on, and once you fit dry brushing into your routine, you will be OBSESSED! Here is a brush from Amazon that I know you’ll love, or at least I hope you will. Go on, give it a try. BUY DRY BRUSH HERE
The best time to dry brush is right before a shower. After a bath and your skin has dried. Or when you are sitting inside a sauna or infrared sauna.
Morning Routine Scrub Exfoliating

Just like with dry brushing, using an exfoliating scrub such as these: dead sea salt scrub, sugar scrub, coffee grounds scrub, are great ways to shed excess skin. Once the dead skin is gone, you will be pleasantly surprised to reveal beautiful, smooth glowing skin!
This tip is short and sweet, because it speaks for itself. The best time to use one of these scrubs is during a shower or bath. My only advice here is to either scrub before you shave your legs, or a day later. I learned the hard way not to shave my legs and then scrub them with a rough sugar or coffee scrub. My leg’s burned and turned red for a little bit. Ouch. I do not recommend.
Here are some of my favorite body scrubs.

Hydrate before Coffee

This tip is probably the toughest for me. It is to drink lots of water and hydrate fully before the coffee. If you’re like me, this tip might sound a little annoying and you might be thinking that it’s not necessary. But let me tell you this, drinking water or coconut water, enough so that you’re hydrated, before coffee will change your life!
Sometimes I rush this step and I’ll simply drink an 8-10 ounce cup of water and call it good. Coffee is my life! It’s what drives me all day, and is the only reason I am motivated to get out of my bed in the first place. ON days that I cheat this step, I feel a HUGE difference in my energy levels, in the dark bags under my eyes, and in my mental brain fog amounts.
Instead of making do with just a cup of water before coffee, try drinking your ice water, followed by you hot lemon water, followed by a cup of coconut water or drinking your daily greens, before coffee. I KNOW, please don’t hate me. Your body and mind will thank you. I promise.

Morning Routine Stretch

There’s a reason cats and dogs stretch after every sleep or nap. They know it’s the only way to wake up and have the mobility you need to move properly. The great thing about stretching is that there is really no wrong way to do it. Meaning that as long as you are listening to your body, moving slow, feeling the stretching and stopping just at the point of discomfort but not pain, you are doing it right.
Let me repeat the key phrase there, as long as you are listening to your body…
You’ll want to stretch first thing in the morning to improve your flexibility, your blood flow, your circulation, and to wake up your body so it begins to prime your joints for the day’s activities. Stretching first thing in the morning will also reduce muscle tension and boost your overall energy and alertness.
Coffee Time

Finally! I know, right?
This isn’t a picture of my, but it’s pretty accurate to what I look like while inhaling that first cup of wonderful, glorious coffee. If you’ve stuck around a feminine life long enough, you’ll know that I take my morning coffee and fika coffee pretty seriously. It’s my me time. I will go as far as waking up an hour early just to ensure that I have quiet, uninterrupted coffee time in the morning before the rest of the house wakes up.
It’s okay if you are not into coffee, perhaps you are more of a tea or matcha drinker. Or maybe water and your daily greens is enough for you. That’s fine too. No judging here, lovely!
If case you weren’t aware, there are a number of benefits to drinking a cup of Joe. Here they are:
- Reduced risk of type two diabetes
- reduced risk of heart disease
- reduced risk of liver disease
- reduces the risk of some cancers
- improves cognitive function
- improves mood
There you have it, reasons to keep that cup of coffee in your morning rotation. I personally feel #6 the most. When I lived in Alaska during fall and winter months when the sun barely shown and we were submersed in darkness, coffee was my shining light, lighting the path to happiness. Really, though, there were drive through coffee huts on every side of the road every mile or so. For good reason too. Coffee if a natural mood booster that help keep depression away; something needed when there is a lack of sunshine. NOTHING BUT LOIVE FOR MY ALASKA PEEPS!
Morning Routine Flexible Planning

Spring is such a beautiful time of year, filled with endless possibilities! However, it’s important to strike a balance so we can truly savor the season. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by all the exciting activities, volunteering opportunities, and social gatherings vying for our attention. One effective way to embrace this vibrant season is by allowing ourselves the freedom to slow down.
Instead of overcommitting, consider keeping a flexible daily plan. This approach might feel challenging at first, especially if you’re accustomed to detailed planning or if you’re managing the needs of others who thrive on structure. But the good news is that you don’t have to abandon your organizational skills—just adjust your mindset a bit!
I like to tell my kids, “Let’s see how the day unfolds.” This simple phrase helps us enjoy activities without the pressure of a tight schedule, allowing us to adapt and flourish. By lightening up on rigid commitments, we can relieve some of the stress that comes from trying to do everything at once. So let’s embrace the joy of spring and all it has to offer, while taking the time to truly enjoy each moment!
Outdoor Activities

It’s spring! Get outdoors more often!
If you were waiting for someone to give you permission to spend more time outdoors, there you have it. Spending time outdoors will increase your mood, ward off depression, help you breath better, and absorb much needed vitamins and nutrients from the sun and the earth.
If one of your main ways to get outdoors is by going for a morning walk, that’s perfect! Not only do you get your steps in first thing in the day, but you are spending time outside and improving your life. If you are not someone who can go on walks alone, invite a friend or a fur-baby and hit the trails. Daily walks will help improve your digestion, your sleep at night, not to mention your overall health and wellness and maintaining a healthy weight.
Make this Morning Routine: Explore Your Closet, a Must!

Spring fashion marks a great opportunity for a fresh start. Before buying new clothes, take time to shop your closet. If you’re overwhelmed and don’t know where to begin, consider cleaning out your clothes and accessories instead of adding more.
I sort through my closet before and after every season. It’s easy because I know what I have. My rule is simple: if I haven’t worn an item all season, I donate it. This intentional approach helps me identify what I truly like to wear.
Clearing out items you don’t use makes room for favorites—clothes that fit well and make you feel good. Planning outfits for seven days can streamline your daily choices and boost your confidence.
Grow Something As Part Of Your Morning Routine

Put your hands into dirt as early in the day as you can. Studies have shown that people who garden and touch dirty on a daily basis reap many health benefits. Some of those benefits are as follows and in no particular order:
- healthier gut microbiome
- improved mood
- Improved immune system
- live longer lives
- are overall healthier and happier
- Gardening counts as low impact exercise
- reduces stress
When you connect with nature, your are improving you general happiness and wellbeing. You boost your mental and physical wellbeing as well. Not only that, but you also reap the benefits of home-grown produce and fresh cut flowers without paying absurd prices for the healthier, organic options. Gardening has been shown to promote mindfulness, improve sleep at night, improve cognitive function (problem solving skills) and lower your blood pressure. Mornings are the peak time to harvest your vegetables and fruits as that’s when the nutritional value is at it’s highest. So don’t delay, get your hands into dirt, plant a garden or flower bed.
