Today’s internet and social media make living in the here and now a challenge—especially when influencers post months ahead for marketing. Sure, we understand why we see reels in July titled How to Decorate for Fall, but it leaves us feeling cheated out of the season we’re actually in. Let’s be real: in July, most of us would rather scroll posts about refreshing summer drinks, new swimwear, or last-minute getaways.
I get it. I love browsing social media and following my favorite influencers, but I also like to keep things real while still planning ahead for future seasons and holidays.
If you’re anything like me, you want to slow down and savor the season you’re in—just a little longer than the world (and marketing) is pushing for.
Plan of Action
In this post, all about Feminine Ways To Enjoy The Season You’re In, you will read all about:
- Autumn Reflections
- Savor the Here and Now
- Style and Beauty Tweaks
- Create new Traditions with home or gathering
- Stay true to your feminine and graceful self (and without being a killjoy)
First up, let’s begin with an autumn reflection. This can be as simple as journaling about where you are in life right now—whether you’re a mother, student, grandmother, mid-career, single, or married. Think of your life in terms of seasons, and compare your personal growth with nature’s cycles. That’s the heart of an autumn reflection.
Take a few moments—whether in one sitting or spread out over several days or weeks—to jot down where you are with your goals and personal growth. While the rest of the world is already shopping for Christmas trees, we’ll pause to focus on life goals and the meaning of autumn.

Savor the Present Senses (another great Feminine Ways To Enjoy The Season You’re In)
True—you can savor the here and now and still get a little Christmas shopping done in your spare time, right?
Right.
I get it. With four kids and plenty of nieces and nephews to shop for, I need a head start, too! But that doesn’t mean giving ourselves over completely to consumerism or ignoring the season we’re currently in.
Here are a few ways you really can “have your cake and eat it too.”
- Seasonal care through daily rituals such as drinking cozy teas, candle-lit baths, and updating current skincare.
- Bring in the fall sensations with touch and smells through fall-scented candles or room sprays, woodsy perfumes, spiced lattes, wool or flannel shirts, and blankets.
- Slow living practices such as slow walks, journaling, or even simply slowing down and enjoying and savoring each meal.

Style and Beauty Tweaks
Even though we might be scrolling through posts about Halloween parties or Christmas décor, no one wants to be wearing an ugly Christmas sweater in September. And if you’re like me—living somewhere warm where it’s still 90 degrees at the end of September—the last thing you want to do is throw on winter clothes just because your favorite Insta influencer is already rocking the cutest sweater dress (lucky her, she’s got snow).
Since it’s autumn as I’m writing this, one of the best ways to enjoy the season is by tweaking your wardrobe. I’m not suggesting a full closet overhaul—think of it more as a seasonal refresh.
You can…
- Highlight transitional pieces or play with new color palettes.
- Swap out makeup shades to reflect the season.
- Add a signature accessory to subtly shift your look—a scarf, a brooch, or a seasonal lipstick. (That last one is my favorite and totally my signature move!)

Create or Continue traditions in Home and Gathering
Autumn is my favorite season to decorate for—even more than Christmas. There’s just something about those warm, rich tones of burgundy, brown, deep green, and rust that makes my home feel like a giant, cozy hug. One of my favorite rituals is taking a walk outside to gather little treasures for decorating. A handful of pinecones, some fiery leaves, or even a few wildflowers can instantly bring the season indoors. I’ll scent the pinecones with cinnamon oil, thread the leaves into a garland, or tuck fresh finds into vases for an easy autumn refresh.
When winter arrives, I do the same—bare branches become glittery arrangements, pinecones get a hint of pine oil, and evergreen boughs turn into fresh garlands. It’s simple, affordable, and it keeps me grounded in the beauty of the season.
Another way I love to celebrate is through graceful hosting. A fall tea party with friends or a cozy winter soup night always feels special, no matter how simple. I also keep a gratitude jar on the counter, slipping in a daily note of thanks. Sometimes we bake together as a family, trying a new recipe or bringing back an old favorite. And whenever I can, I write a handwritten note—because nothing brightens someone’s day quite like a personal letter.

Last (but not Least) Tip for Feminine Ways To Enjoy The Season You’re In:
Just as we began, we’ll end with reflection—only this time, a little deeper.
First, practice life-season acceptance. Every stage—whether busy or restful—has its own beauty.
Second, give yourself a daily pause for gratitude and elegance: What am I thankful for right now? How can I bring more grace into my routines?
Third, set gentle, realistic goals to carry you smoothly into each new season of life.
I’d love to hear from you—what are your own feminine seasonal rituals? Share them in the comments so we can inspire each other. Thank you for being here, and may you find joy and growth in every stage of life’s cycles.
