Spring Glow Up: Beauty Rest

This tip might seem obvious because we all know that in order to look and feel our best, we need ample sleep at night. Or maybe it’s not so obvious and you haven’t been able to figure out why your skin is dull, your hair is lackluster, and you eat for energy throughout the day…it’s more than likely due to get enough sleep at night.
When you get enough sleep at night your skin and hair will improve, you will wake up feeling refreshed and not already exhausted long before your day has begun, and you will eat more balanced throughout the day.
Aim for 7-10 hours of sleep. Tips to sleep better at night include:
- Bedtime bath with relaxing bath salts
- calming spa music
- bedtime snack high in melatonin. Try this recipe: (1/2 cup oats, 1 cup water, simmer until water absorbed. Add pitted dark cherries, 1/2 banana sliced, 1/2 cup of milk) The melatonin from the dark cherries mixed with the filling, slow releasing carb from the oats, the potassium from the banana and the calcium from the dairy, will help get your body into a comfortable, tired, and relaxed state. Just make sure it’s a full 12 hours before you eat breakfast in the morning from the time you eat your bedtime concoction.
- Dim the lights
- Get off ALL electronics 2 hours before bed
- Try sleepy time tea or chamomile
- Massage yourself all over with body oil or lotion (this relaxes your muscles)
- Have sex
Morning Sunrise With Hot Lemon Water

Going to bed early leads to waking up early. Studies have shown that people who go to bed early and wake up early tend to be healthier and happier. Additionally, research indicates that witnessing the sunrise each morning and the sunset each evening contributes to a sense of balance and accomplishment. This daily ritual provides a feeling of closure for the day, which can lead to greater success in life.
For our morning ritual, we will watch the sunrise while sipping hot lemon water. We wake up early to enjoy this beautiful sight, which has many benefits as previously explained. Drinking hot lemon water first thing in the morning improves gut health, leading to clearer skin. When our digestive system is functioning well, our entire body begins to heal, benefiting our skin, hair, metabolism, energy levels, thyroid health, physical performance, mental clarity, as well as liver and kidney function. The benefits are extensive! Whether you believe in these effects or not, there’s really no downside to drinking hot lemon water. What do you have to lose?
Spring Glow Up: Pelvic, Hip & Lower Back Massage

Giving your body a quick warm up first thing in the morning will help to awaken your body, loosen your hips and pelvic area and prime your lower back for the day ahead. As women, we carry so much tension in our hips that it can hold toxins and stress, and when you work at loosening and stretch this area, you help release toxins, aid in stress reduction, and strengthen your body.
What to do: Sit on a yoga ball and rock your body side to side, back and forth. Partake in a gentle morning yoga stretch. Rolling your hips around in circles in your bed before you even get out of it can do the trick.
Morning Yoga

Combing your hip, pelvic, and lower back stretch into your morning routine is a fine idea. I still think your body will benefit from an additional stretch to those areas before your jump into a yoga workout or stretch, but if you are short on time you can absolutely combine the two tips. Make sure you take it easier if it is the first movement your body partakes in for the day. Wake your muscles, joints up slowly by not stressing it out and choosing a gently yoga. There’s lots of time for a more substantial workout later in the day.
Spring Glow up: Lemon Juice and Olive Oil Shots

Olive oil is a well known super food, or rather, super healthy fat, that has been around for ages. When you mix this super food with some freshly squeezed lemon juice and taking it on an empty stomach, you are creating a concoction that will help heal your gut. This combination will help balance the PH balance of your gut, aid in digestion and healthy gut flora, help your body function and perform more smoothly. The lemon adds some more vitamin C to your day as well. Recipe is only a bit of olive oil and a bit of lemon juice. Make sure you are choosing quality olive oil. Look on the label for an oil that comes from one region, (the fewer listed the better). Use organic lemons and opt for fresh squeezed versus from the little yellow bottle.
Spring glow up: Morning Skin Care Routine

Your face is the first thing people see when they walk into a room. It’s also the first part of your body to show the tell-tale signs of aging. Take care of your skin by following a consistent skin care routine. Skin care routine should include the following:
Washing your face with a gentle soap. Followed by a microdermabrasion or exfoliating scrub (3 x a week). Next comes the toner as water and soap deplete our face from natural oils and healthy PH balance and the toner (I like rose water toner) will aid in adding back in what has been depleted. Next, you will moisturize several ways with a standard moisturizer suited for your skin type, followed by something with hyaluronic acid & vitamin C. Moreover, always sunscreen or use enough barrier to help protect your skin from sun damage.
More ways to enhance your skin care journey is by adding in face masks a few times a week. Have you tried going to the spa for a facial once a month or so, getting massages done? Another great way to take care of your face and skin is by doing yoga (gets blood flow going and helps skin and face appear younger). If you are blemish prone or have tricky skin, go to dermatologist regularly. There’s a huge fad right now about going to infrared saunas or using infrared masks with red light therapy for rejuvenating the skin.
Matcha Green Tea

Matcha green tea is so good for you! The really cool thing is, that you don’t need to give up or trade in your daily coffee either as matcha green tea and coffee work well together. The matcha helps take away the coffee’s jittery effects. It’s also full of ECGC, a powerful antioxidant that helps protect cells from damage from free radicals. ECGC also helps to boost the metabolism.
Not only that, but Matcha helps lower bad cholesterol and may help to prevent the risk of heart disease, heart attacks and strokes. L-Theanine found in this super food helps with brain function, improves memory and attention and it also helps aid in relaxation… in a non sleepy way.
For this next step you can combine your drinking your matcha and writing in your journal or reading a book at the same time. for some reason, sipping this green latte helps awaken the brain and allows for your creative side to draw forth. So grab your journal, write down your daily goals, or sit back and read a really good book.
Spring Glow Up: Journaling

A new you starts with making goals and knowing what a new you looks like. When you write it down or create a dream board or goal board, you are manifesting your goals and wishes to the world. When you write it down in your journal you are more likely to accomplish your goals. So take a few minutes while sipping your matcha latte and manifest the “new you” as a result of this spring glow up.
Energize with Music
Now it’s time to fire up that music and get your body in motion. Turning on your favorite playlist will put you in a great mood while you are getting ready for your day. It might even make you move your body and dance a bit. Trying getting ready for the rest of the day while listening, dancing and singing to your favorite songs. Starting your day out in a good mood, feeling energized and happier will do wonders for your glow up.
If time allows it, this is where you’ll fit in your morning workout or gym time. The matcha latte should have revved your engine by now. Exercising on an empty stomach will help shed unwanted body fat and help detox your body. I personally aim for 30 minutes of any kind of exercise, often choosing Pilates, Yoga, Dance, HIIT, and Lifting weights…all done at home.
Shower Ritual
Keep that music turned up while you shower. This is your time to refresh, clean, shave, exfoliate and dry brush your skin. Get into a good routine of keeping cleaned shaved legs free from stubble. Dry brushing will make your skin look and feel smoother, aid in better circulation, and help with lymphatic drainage. Exfoliating will get rid of dead skin that is making your skin look dull and feel bumpy. Find a shower routine that works for you. Don’t forget to use a leave in conditioner a few times a week as well. Lastly, you will moisturize your entire body afterword with lotions or oils.
Choose Outfit From Capsule Wardrobe

This spring glow up will include ways to make your life easier with less stressing over the little things. When you already know which clothing pieces look fabulous on you and you know what pairs well with what, life gets easier. If you missed my article on How to Create the Perfect Capsule Wardrobe, check it out HERE
Here’s a brief glance if you do not have time to check out the article just yet…
A capsule wardrobe is a thoughtfully curated collection of clothing items based on a foundation of staple pieces that can be mixed and matched effortlessly. Typically, a capsule wardrobe takes a minimalistic approach, aiming to have as few but versatile clothing items as possible to maximize outfit options. The beauty of this type of wardrobe is that you can still showcase your style by selectively choosing each piece.
Here are the essentials you’ll need for a spring to summer wardrobe!
*Note: You can swap for different colors to match your unique style, but most capsule wardrobes are done in neutral colors, so everything works together and takes the guesswork out of matching pieces to form an outfit.
The colors I used here and use in my own personal wardrobe are white, off-white, beige, black, light blue, Olive or Sage Green, (check the end of this post for buyable links from Amazon that will have all the basics you need!)

Dewy Skin With Natural Looking Makeup

This spring, let’s focus on achieving glowing skin and promoting an overall healthier version of ourselves. Instead of piling on layers of makeup that often mask our true selves, why not embrace a natural makeup look? This approach highlights our uniqueness and helps us achieve that effortless “I just woke up like this” vibe.
Here are a few things you should always do before you apply any makeup. Make sure your face has been exfoliated and is well moisturized. Next, apply a primer. I like a moisturizing primer followed by a CC Cream Or BB cream and primer in one. This helps to smooth the skin and blur imperfections such as acne scare or age spots. After, follow through this list below. Consider using make up that is non toxic and free from harsh chemicals, is vegan and cruelty free. one thing not listed is the use of mascare.
- I personally love mascara. I use this one from the Honest Brand found on Amazon: Honest Mascara
- Here is the face primer and Cc/BB cream I use from Physician formula found on Amazon
- Physician formula Blur
- Laura Geller Make Up Kit from Amazon

That’s a wrap. I hope that this article help you to glow up this spring! Until next time…
