Fashionistas predict that one of the hottest trends for 2025 will be the colors Red and Yellow. Participating in fashion trends can be daunting or even seem unreachable. Following color trends is one of the easiest ways to stay on trend. Or to at least participate in the year’s trends.

This year we are looking at Reds and Yellows!

Yellow

As in the picture above, yellow gives a pop to any attire. Choosing the right yellow for your skin type is not as complicated as one might think. If you prefer something bright and sunny, go for the brighter or neon hues. If you prefer warmer almost fall or winter colors, choose a warm yellow. Mustard yellows tend to have a bit of brown in them making the yellow warmer. The same applies with honey or topaz inspired yellows. Other unique yellows to try are: Saffron, ivory, and vanilla almost beige. If Yellow is not your color, opt for an accessory in yellow.

How to Choose the Right Yellow

1. If you have a warmer skin tone, opt for deep golden yellows.
2. if you have a cooler skin tone, go with Pastels yellows like lemon or canary.
3. absolutely consider your complexion…darker skin tones can pull off brighter yellows where lighter skin tones can pull off the creamy softer shades.

Red

Lady in red is iconic for a reason. Red is such a statement color. If you are unsure of what red will look great on you, go with the universal red called coral. Just like with last fall, 2024, burgundy is still a top red choice this year. As a feminine woman, I adore red. More than adore, I require it! If you are not sure where to start when choosing your perfect red shade, take a look at the suggestions below:

How to Choose the Right Red

1. Cool skin tones should choose reds with blue undertones. Cherry reds or even a deeper winter cranberry red would be ideal.
2. Warm skin tones would look awesome in a red that pops. Consider brick reds, or orange based reds.

If you are not ready to take the red plunge, go with accessories, a beret, red lipstick, or start with a pair of red statement shoes.

Yes, you read that right. 2025 is going full scale this year with the aquatic inspo. Think shiny. Think scales, Think shimmering aqua colors that reflect the sea. This trend comes from the runway. Models are seen in liquid blue colors. aquamarine, sea glass, seaweed green, deep oceanic blues.

But wait, there’s more. We are not stopping at sea worthy colors. To complete the theme of this trend, opt for dresses with a mermaid cut. Sleeveless tops that flare mermaid style are also a great choice.

This fun take on oceanic fashion, doesn’t have to exist only on the beach or specific occasion. Try wearing a suit in an unusual color, like this pastel sea breeze color pictured below.

Naturally, choosing a textured fabric, such as something resembling scales like sequin will take this trend up a notch.

How to Determine Which Ocean Color Suits Your Skin Tone

1. For warmer skin tones, try out sea greens with hints of yellow in it such as sea foam.
2. For cooler skin tones, grab a sea green with more blue undertones in it.
3. Go for brighter shades for informal outings, and opt for deeper shades for formal events.
4. Bonus: if you are petite, or on the shorter side, go for a sculpting choice, vertical designs, or midi length mermaid dresses.

Animal print has become a classic design. The pattern, or rather, animal print, is a personal preference. Choosing to wear animal print is a strong statement, adding drama to your style.

Go for a less obvious choice if you want to leave people guessing. Something like a peacock print, or something with an equally memorizing feathering effect. Cow print is something growing more popular and we’re seeing it outside of western outfits these days.

How to Wear Animal Print

1. Wear one animal print at a time.
2. go for monochromatic pairings.
3. reach for neutral colors.
4. If you are new to animal print, reach for accessories.
5. Bonus: choose a wrap dress that cinches the waist. Wear Heels to elongate your legs.

Evidently, we are nostalgic for the days of western wear, homesteading and living more earthy practical. Could this be because of the ever popular Yellowstone TV series? Or due to influencers longing for simpler times as we are seeing homesteading becoming increasingly popular?

Either way, I’m digging it!

How to Choose the Right Suede Western Wear

Real, or organic material can be quite heavy and not always as breathable. You will want to consider how light weight something it, and how breathable it is depending on the occasion. If you will be wearing an outfit for an extended period of time, consider how comfortable you will be. Keep the weather and outside temperatures in mind.

When considering Suede…

1. choose an A-lign skirt with boots or chunky platform heals and a matching accessory.
2. Wear a tailored suede blazer over a sundress, or wear over a flowy blouse with fitted jeans.
3. Suede hats can take your look western or bohemian all depending on the shape/style.
4. Suede can be paired with cool tones: Grays, blues, dark greens.
5. Pair suede with an earthy palette such as olive green, mustard yellow, or rust.
6. Go bold with a navy suede.
7. Black suede looks great with bold colors such as red, black on black, or emerald green.

The 2025 Feminine Fashion Trends Handbook: Trends to Try This Year…Asymmetry

When wearing asymmetry, the mind conjures images of scarf dresses, bandana shirts, one shoulder strap, and V-neck wrap dresses.

This style comes and goes so often, it’s hard to say for sure if it’s in season or not. Maybe that’s why I’ve been holding onto all my old bandana shirts from the early 2000’s! If you don’t have anything asymmetrical, no sweat. I have an easy solution for you. Take a button down shirt, and only tuck in on side. You can also take a spaghetti strap shirt or tank top and tuck in one side to accomplish this trend.

Voila. It’s that easy.

A dress with a slit up the side in another, more subtle, way to create that asymmetrical look.

The 2025 Fashion Trends Handbook Presents…Flowers and Blossoms

There’s a good chance you already have something hanging up in your closet that will fall under this trend. Flowers and blossoms are so feminine and lovely. I am quite taken with a floral. There’s just something so romantic about the little buds.

Let’s Get Specific

Take grandma’s floral curtains to the next level. We are talking a 2025 modern take on flowers and blossoms. How can this be done, you ask?

1. Go bold! Big or small…cover the entire outfit in something floral.
2. Make it unexpected by pairing it with gothic, glamour, or utilitarian styles.
3. Create a 3-D texture. Crocheted flowers are pretty huge right now! Add to a hat or cardigan.
4. Feminine. Find something as soft, and feminine and romantic as possible. Let your inner feminine side shine through.
5. Mix patterns. You can mix leopard print with a soft small flower pattern. Who knew? The trend does not stop there, we are mixing stripes with floral patterns. Big flowers with little flowers. You really can’t get this 2025 trend wrong.
6. Handmade. Embroidering, like crocheting, has made a come back. It’s all in the details. From simple to intricate, you can add a customized look with the right embroidery.

Strapless Shirts and Dresses

First of all, I love this trend! It is so flattering for almost all body shapes. Secondly, I bet many of us already have a few shirts or dresses that qualify. Thirdly, all the time in the gym lifting, planking, and hours of cardio will pay off. It’s time to show off the muscles, lady.

How to Wear Strapless

1. Pair a strapless top with jean, belt and a hat.
2. Strapless tops can be paired with blazers, jackets, cardigans, worn with skirts, trousers or jeans.
3. Make it simple, go with a strapless dress. Show off the collarbones and neckline with a flowy version.
4. If you are less confident in your arms, opt for a strapless top with some flow to the sleeve. Good examples are butterfly sleeves, bell sleeves or my favorite, a ruffle top to be worn down around your shoulders.

Ballet or Pilates Activewear

Activewear is a matter of personal preference and largely depends on the activity you’ll be doing. However, there’s nothing wrong with wearing ballet or Pilates-inspired clothing to the gym for any workout session. After all, there’s something undeniably feminine about sporting ballet-inspired fitness attire.

How to Obtain This Look

1. trade your usual leggings and sports bra for a leotard and tights.
2. Wear ballet pinks, blacks and nude tones.
3. Wear ballet slippers to train in during Pilates instead of going barefoot. Or, wear the dance shoes instead of the converse that were everywhere at the gym.
